Some things we all need time to time

It’s about 11:30 in the morning here, and I’m reading the second Thursday Murder Club Mystery, The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman. I started it about 8 a.m. and will be done with it probably by 1. It’s not necessarily great, but it’s a fun diversion, which is what I need lately. I think it’s something we all need time to time.

This past Monday, I took the day off from work. The library wasn’t closed for Columbus Day, but I just wanted/needed the day off and a three-day weekend. On Sunday and Monday, I had another fun diversion: I bingewatched the second season of Doom Patrol on HBO Max. It’s beyond nonsensical and not based in reality at all, which also is something that I believe we need time to time.

While reading, I’ve been continuing to listen to Four Tet’s ever expanding Spotify playlist. To learn more about the list, which he has been compiling since 2016, check out this article from Pitchfork. The only thing I don’t like about the list is that I can’t bookmark where I left off so have to find my place each time, but I guess that’s also part of the fun. Maybe is also one of those things that we all need time to time: to discover and rediscover where we left off.

  1. There’s nothing wrong with indulging in something that’s entertaining even if it’s not the best quality or even the thing you enjoy the most, when you need that kind of thing. 🙂

  2. I think a day off every once in a while is such a good thing and I need to heed my own thoughts on that. It has been many, many months since I’ve had a day off. I recently got a copy of the third Thursday Murder Club book and I hear it’s even better than the first one.

    1. I highly recommend just taking a day for yourself. It’s so reinvigorating…the second Thursday Murder Club was better than I thought and now I’m on to the third one that you mentioned.

  3. Diversions are good and very much needed, given everything happening in our lives these days. My reading has taken that same path of late (more on that in my Sunday Salon or next BookTube video, whatever comes first). Glad you are finding some distractions!
