Where I am right now…

…is in a good place.

I’m off from work until this coming Thursday. I’m celebrating Easter, my wife’s birthday on Tuesday, and receiving my second COVID-19 vaccine shot this past Thursday.

Yesterday, I went to the Good Friday service at Washington National Cathedral and then received the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession/absolution) from a priest via Zoom. This isn’t to brag. It’s just that I like to attend Good Friday services…and I haven’t been to confession in several years. It felt good.

Today, I plan on continuing to read the Inspector Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri. I’m now up to the 12th in the series, The Track of Sand. I also am getting together tonight with a former college roommate Joe to play board games online.

Tomorrow morning, I plan on attending the Easter service at Washington National Cathedral too. Then in the afternoon, I’ll probably read more Camilleri.

I also plan on getting out for a walk this weekend, probably both days since the weather is finally clearing after a little snow on April 1.

The last three days of my holiday/vacation/celebration will be spent mostly with my wife. Even though I am off from work, I will be attending a staff meeting Tuesday morning. As for me and my wife, we have no plans other than to eat, drink, and be merry.

Happy birthday, hon!

  1. The gap between first and second jabs seems to be shorter in USA than it is here in the UK where there is a space of about 10-12 weeks. I’m not complaining; I had my first dose 2 months earlier than first indicated so it meant I could get to see my parents over Easter….

  2. Yay for our second vaccinations! And services in the Washington National Cathedral must be quite beautiful, it’s a wonderful building and I love its stained glass windows.

  3. That’s so nice Bryan. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. I just caught the tail end of the National Cathedral’s live service online and I’ll likely rewatch the beginning …. the music is great despite the singers having to wear masks. The whole service feels like an uplifting treat. Glad you’ve been vaccinated … we are still waiting here.

  4. That’s wonderful you are vaccinated now! We get our second dose this coming Friday. Sorry I didn’yt get back to you last week, it’s been hectic with eye surgery and a wayward dog. I hope to link to Sunday Salon on a regular basis.

    Happy birthday to your wife!

  5. It sounds lovely to attend church, in Washington DC even if it is via Zoom. We got our second vaccine yesterday and I’m feeling a little puny but not bad. I feel hopeful about the future again. My Sunday Salon, Easter version

  6. This all sounds very good to me. We are attending Easter service tonight to avoid the crowds tomorrow. Since I am still waiting for that shot I don’t feel comfortable hitting the large crowds yet. A walk today and tomorrow. I bought all the stuff for our meal tomorrow and look forward to it. I found the tiniest spiral ham for the hub and daughter and I will make a Salisbury steak for myself using the Impossible burger sub.

    Godzilla and Kong hopefully tonight.

    1. We’re having ham too. A Tofurky ham, but I’ve had before. It’s good. And mac and “cheese”. I’m at church, at Washington National Cathedral, as I’m typing this. It’s a sunny day, and I plan to head out for a walk this afternoon.
