Again today, I’m joining hosts Girlxoxo, Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge for their annual #AMonthofFaves blog event – “a fun way to recap the year that was” with “every day of the event (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) planned out” and a link-up on all their blogs. Today’s topic is…
Popular Books Worth The Hype
Now usually the take on this is from books published this year, but since I didn’t read many books published this year, I took it for popular books I read this year that were worth the hype. I picked out these three:
All three are from the young adult genre, which is a genre I read sparingly. I’m usually a crime fiction reader, but every once in a while, I’m drawn to the young adult genre…and when I am, I go big. All three of these were critically-acclaimed, as well they should have been. I won’t say much about the three, lest spoilers, but will say I listened to The Poet X on audio and the author was amazing.
So did you read any of the above books? What did you think? What were any popular books that you read this year (either published this year or not) that were worth the hype? Or weren’t? Share in the comments.
I rarely read YA, but adored The Hate U Give. Great choice!

I’ve not heard of American Street so had to go look it up and it sounds really good! Loved The Hate U Give.

I don’t read any YA really (not knocking it, it’s just not my normal reads). But so many people have been raving about The Hate U Give.. so I may give it a try.. one day.

As I read other people’s posts this morning I’m realizing I don’t know how I defined “hype” and that everyone has a different take on it. I love YA and I LOVED The Hate U Give so now I want to check out the other two books.
