As most Thanksgiving weekends, my wife was working and I planned on participating in another Thankfully Reading Weekend, hosted by Jenn of the blog Jenn’s Bookshelves. As I said last Sunday, I planned to start a reread of The Lord of the Rings, but I had another book, Bluebird, Bluebird, by Attica Locke already checked out from the Free Library of Philadelphia and a few others on hold there that were expected to come in.
So what did I actually read?
One book.
But it was a good one by one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite series. So I’m not disappointed….
…and I did start The Lord of the Rings on Friday, which I plan on reading more of later today. To be honest, it probably will be what I continue to read into, and throughout, December.
I got sidetracked mostly by dealing with visits from the cable company because of ongoing Internet issues. While not quite resolved (it’s complicated), we did get a new modem. Also if the Internet is down, we did get a new Blu-Ray player yesterday so we can watch movies then.
Kim and I did have a lovely Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day, with a neighbor joining us and another friend visiting with us later that night. We also watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Last night, while I didn’t get any reading done, I did borrow a literary Blu-Ray from a neighbor:
I also did buy a few ebooks during online Black Friday specials, so all in all, it was a good weekend and it’s not over until I go to work Monday at 2 p.m. So here’s hoping the last bit is as good as the rest has been.
How was your Thanksgiving (for those of you in the United States)? Did you read anything about over the last few days. Anything good? Anything to avoid?
I did not read nearly as much as I had planned over the last four days. I love the book I am reading and found myself drawing out the reading experience because I don’t really want it to end. So much for reading over long weekends!

You have a wonderful long Thanksgiving weekend. I’m glad you got to read one book that you really enjoyed. Maybe you’ll dig into another one before your time is up.

I might, but it’s already 4 p.m. here so probably not.

I haven’t read much the last few days but I have listened to a little bit of Capital Gaines by Chip Gaines. I just watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I liked it.
